The next generation of gaming consoles has finally arrived. Since 2013, the Xbox One and the PS4 have been the staple gaming consoles, but that is a thing of the past. The Xbox Series X and PS5 recently released, and they have taken gaming to a new level.
I bought the Xbox Series X as I’ve been an exclusive Xbox user since the Xbox 360. I’m going to review the Xbox Series X and give tips on how to enhance your gaming experience to the fullest.
The Xbox Series X is $499.99, but will have limited stock for the next few months due to high demands. The console holds one terabyte of storage, which is the same as the previous Xbox. You can expand your storage by purchasing a game drive that you can plug into your Xbox to add more games to your system. The game drive costs around $70.00.
The new Xbox will allow you to live out a lifetime of gaming experience with four generations of consoles being compatible. That means all of the games you played on either the original Xbox, Xbox 360, or Xbox one can be played on the Series X.
With “Halo: Infinite” coming in 2021, and the latest installment in the Assassin’s Creed series, “Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla,” dropping alongside the Series X, the buzz has never been bigger surrounding the Xbox brand. Superstar actor Keanu Reeves is promoting another new game called “Cyberpunk 2077,” which is a RPG game where you can drive around in and outside of Night City, explore buildings, and hack, shoot, or negotiate your way through a main story involving Keanu Reeves. There are different narratives that you can follow along with the game as well.
There are a few different Xbox exclusives coming, but there are no set dates for their releases. Notable exclusives coming are a remaster of “Fable 4”, “Forza Motorsport”, and “State of Decay”. “Fable 4”, is a highly anticipated release, as the fourth installment of the series has been speculated and rumoured for years now. The last game to drop in the series was all the way back in 2013.
My favorite part of the Series X is the speed. It has a brand new Zen 2 CPU processor, which runs at 3.8Ghz per core. The Xbox One had a custom eight-core AMD processor , but it ran at 2.3Ghz per core.I expected to see and feel a slight change in the user interface, but there are major changes that have made me enjoy the experience much more than the Xbox One. The sharpness of the movement mechanics have never been smoother and I’ve seen a lot less glitches in animation. The shape of the Series X is also a great way to keep your console from overheating. The air stays relatively cool, even after hours of playing.
For the typical gamer, the graphics of the Series X will be what excites them. The Series X is said to work on 8k output, but the option is disabled in the setting due to the fact there is no media content that users can use 8k on. The two branches of the Xbox One, the Xbox One S and Xbox One X, can be used on a 4k TV. The Series X doubles the pixels! As more and more video games release for the Series X, the more we will see those graphics come into play as game designers adjust to the next-gen technology.
The Xbox Series X is the biggest upgrade the Xbox series has had, with the Xbox 360 being a close second. The Series X is the most powerful gaming console of all time, even more than the PS5. They are virtually identical, but the Series X processes better than the PS5, as the Series X sits at 3.8Ghz per core, while the PS5 has 3.5Ghz. The graphics also give the Series X a slight edge. The way they measure this is with teraflops, which means how many operations can the computer or console run per second. A teraflop equals one trillion operations, and the Series X has 12 teraflops, while the PS5 has 10.28.
To fully experience the new consoles, a new TV with 8k compatibility and a HDMI 2.1 port, instead of the traditional 2.0, is the best for you. Buying an 8K TV is around $1,000-$2,000, so it is definitely a big investment to go along with the Series X price. Don’t feel too rushed to get a new TV, though, as no current games are 8k compatible.
This isn’t about a console battle, it is about the extraordinary time the gaming community is living in. Feel free to buy any console you want, but the numbers speak for themselves; The Xbox Series X is the best gaming console ever.
