Steve Krafcisin, head coach of the DMACC women’s basketball team, reached his 300th career win on Jan. 12 when the Bears were victorious over Iowa Lakes Community College, 76-62. Krafcisin is now DMACC’s all-time winningest and longest tenured women’s basketball coach with a career record of 303-131 at the school.
Krafcisin was a standout for the University of Iowa in 1980, helping the team on their way to the NCAA Final Four that year. Krafcisin averaged over 12 points and 6 rebounds as a junior that season, which was the Hawkeyes most recent trip to the Final Four.
Krafcisin told DMACC Athletics “It’s very humbling . . . It’s great to win and I love to win, but the culture we have built since I got here has been tremendous . . . That is way cool.”
During Krafcisin’s 14 seasons as head coach of the Bears, he has coached 4 All-Americans, 51 All-Region players and earned a number one national ranking in 2017 with a 27-5 record.
