The Salt Company Conference – 2018

The Salt Company Conference is an annual gathering of college students from major universities’ Salt Companies around the midwest. This year, it was held in Des Moines at the Iowa Events Center with speakers Aaron Rodgers, Rob Warren, Jake Each and Ankeny’s Salt Company Director, Austin Wadlow. This year there was about 1,900 college students gathered to praise Jesus.

The first session of the Feb. 2 weekend was Rodgers, the lead pastor at Story Hill Church in Lawrence, Kansas. Story Hill Church Salt Company will be launching in fall of 2018.

His message was on Romans 8:1-11. It was a strong message to start off the weekend. Romans 8:1, he says, is all of mankind summed up in this one verse: “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Even in Christ, we’re still affected by sin, but through Jesus, there is no condemnation. In Christ, we have a new leadership.

On Feb. 3, Each, the lead pastor at Veritas Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, started off the day with Romans 8:12-17. Romans 8:15 says, “For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’” God adopts us as heirs, meaning being saved by God is being adopted by God.

Warren, the lead pastor at Doxa Church in Madison, Wis., also launching in fall of 2018, lead the second second for the Saturday. He preached Romans 8:18-30. It was a strong message for those who have been suffering with anything in their lives. He gave three points to keep us hoping until Heaven: God promises a future glory, God promises our pain will give way with life, and God promises us the power to push through our suffering.

The final message was given by Wadlow on Feb. 4 on Romans 8:31-39. If God is for us, then who can be against us? If we are in Christ, then God is for us, and if God is for us, then what is there to be afraid of? In giving up his Son for us, God gave us everything. If we are in Christ, we no longer have to carry the burden of our guilt and shame because through His death we have been justified before God. Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ, therefore if we are in Christ, we can live freely and courageously for Him.

There were also breakout sessions which students could pick on Saturday.

The breakout sessions, along with each main session, are online at http://saltcompanyevents.com/sessions if you want to watch the full messages.
